Gospel Library App Reviews

Great update... BUT...

The update is great but still missing is an Apple TV app and an Apple Watch app. And Apple Watch app would be great to put your favorite scriptures verses on so you can share them or memorize them by keeping them on the Watch app. An Apple TV app would be super useful for family scripture reading! Also there are other smalls things that should be added. For example notifications for personal scripture study or for family scripture study. When you get the notification and tap on it it could take you straight into where you left off for you personal reading or family reading. Also please add 3D Touch to the home screen so you can jump right in to certain things. For example you could make the option be: search, new tab, personal study, family study. You should also add iCloud sync and the ability to make certain scriptures as certain things. So you could tag this chapter as your current chapter for person scripture study and that would sync across all devices. Or you could tag one as where you are at in your family study, or for seminary. And then everything could be synced. You would also be able to log in online and view where you are at in your personal, family, seminary reading. That way you never lose your place and its always up to date. So many small features like these would be so helpful. Please add! ****A lot of my leaders at church who give lessons have been downloading videos to share with us but when they go to play them they dont play. Fix this please

Very buggy

App crashes frequently. The screen flips from one chapter to the next because theyve already been heard once. I want to hear it again, but cant because it just keeps flipping pages. Please go back to the old version. This one is crappy.

Beautiful app for exploration & study of the Bible & other LDS material

This app provides an incredible number of features for reading, researching, and study of the Bible, the other standard works of the Church, and literally hundreds of other works and source material. I love that the new iPad version supports Split View. I love the new sidebar in both the iPad and iPhone versions. The notes features allow you to easily create and organize scriptures and thoughts for talks, lessons, and research. Its great to be able to listen to the audio of the Book of Mormon, Bible, and other material. The other content is also rich in photographs, video, and audio. Great app!

Love this app. Have suggestion

I am preparing to be a seminary teacher. I love this app so much and am using it for my daily scripture study. I no longer use my hard copy seeing how everything is advancing to this app. My suggestion for improvement is this: after tapping on the footnotes, they slide over, it would be so nice to be able to see the foot notes already marked from previous study. For example, when you tap on the word "pillar" in 1 Nephi1:6 four cross references slide over. Even though I have already marked these cross references in the past, it does not show them highlighted. Im sure it will become that way soon. Thank you.

Great, but still buggy

As a seminary teacher, its one of my most used and favorite apps. This latest version fixed some important bugs, but there are still two big ones: First, footnotes are still backwards in many instances (e.g. 19c, 19b, 19a). You can see examples in Acts 26 with some correct and some not. Second, when reading a lesson, if you click on a scripture link, the side bar opens and you lose your place because it jumps to another part of the lesson. If you find you find your place and then close the side bar, the same thing happens. Im using an iPad mini with current iOS.

Constantly improving

Keeps getting better and better with each new release. Dont know how I ever studied the scriptures without it.

Thank you for listening

I appreciate all the hard work put into this app but especially for testing before updates are put out. There is nothing worse than breaking something that worked great. Update fixed a lot!!

Huge Problems!

My biggest problem with the app is that it is slow as molasses on my iPhone 7 Plus. Every time I open it after not using it a while it takes a long time to show my annotations while it syncs. And every time I add an annotation it takes a long time to sync again. The only way I can study and annotate an entire D&C section is on my Mac. It would take me forever with the app the way it behaves today. Maddening! There are other problems too such as none of my numerous annotations in 2 Nephi 2 show up at all. Theyre all on lds.org but not the app. Finally, the app often freezes.

Please fix!

Since the update, marking has become almost impossible. When highlighting what you want to mark, it highlights things you dont want. When you tap outside of the shaded area, it wont cancel the selected section. Please fix. Wasnt perfect before, but at least the marking worked relatively well.

Its getting better, but...

The footnotes are sorted backwards for many verses. For instance, instead of being 41a, 41b, 41c, 41d, and so on, it will sort them 41d, 41c, 41b, 41a. Its very frustrating to not have them in descending order! Im am so not a fan of having the sidebar show footnotes and and annotations; I liked pulling it up from the bottom better.

Love it!

Best app on the store

Gospel Library

In audio mode app skips chapters making it almost unusable. Otherwise great app.

Great, just Great

This is a 1st class app.

I hate the update

My wonderful usable gospel app has become awkward and ungainly. I am being driven back to paper. I do not like anything I have seen in it so far. When I update a bookmark to my current reading position it does not open to that location, when I click on a reference link it no longer takes me to the actual scriptures so I can read the context if I so desire, and the split screen or does bring up is awkward at best on my mini tablet. I hate to think what it would be like on a phone! I WANT MY OLD APP BACK!

BUG - skips previously played tracks

Big bug where it skips tracks Ive already listened to. So, once Ive listened to a conference talk, for example, I can never listen to it again. It thinks I am in the last second of the talk so it skips right past it.

Great App

Love this app. Superb. Of course there are always things that individual people wish they could highly customize to suit their own ideas but that should be no reason to give a one star rating. I really like the new side pop-up for footnotes and notes. Also love that the highlight is now straight and not squiggly. Very nice looking app.

Bum update

I used to be able to read a little in the morning, close the app, and then re-open the app later in the day and be in the same place in the chapter I left off. Now it goes back to the beginning of the chapter which is actually super irritating. Also I used to be able to listen to chapters straight through and now it stops after every chapter. Not impressed.

Good, but needs pictures

So I really like this app but the people who make it need to have an option in notes where you can add a picture of the hand out you got in church. I have so many times wanted to just snap a photo and add it to the scripture but it wont let me do that. PLEASE!! Add an option with that.

New 4.04 Buggy

Continues to Freeze on highlight. Cant use on iPad effectively for study or personal references and notations. Previous versions of this app were less troublesome.

Unmarking text. Canceling links.

It is a chore to unlink articles and scriptures on an iPhone touch screen. Also, the tiny user guide is too short. It would save a lot of time if I could read how to unselect several layers of shading on scripture verses, Church manuals, and magazine articles. Touch screen freezes on iPhone 7 Plus when attempting to highlight excerpts of text in Church Presidents priesthood manuals.
